On November 18, an email was sent out from Fight for Schools stating that they filed petitions in Loudoun County Circuit Court to remove LCPS Board Vice-Chair Atoosa Reaser from office. The petitions for removal had 1,859 signatures from Algongkian residents acquired from Fight for School volunteers in thirteen days.

Virginia Code section 24.2-233 states: “Upon petition, a circuit court may remove from office any elected officer or officer who has been appointed to fill an elective office, residing within the jurisdiction of the court … [f]or neglect of duty, misuse of office, or incompetence in the performance of duties when that neglect of duty, misuse of office, or incompetence in the performance of duties has a material adverse effect upon the conduct of the office.”

Fight for Schools Executive Director Ian Prior provided the following statement upon filing:

“From violating open meetings law, to ignoring the school board’s code of conduct, to neglecting to keep our children safe, all in the name of politics, Reaser has failed to lead and collaborate with parents and teachers that want a quality, safe education that respects the diversity of thought and viewpoint of the parents and students in her district.
