Roof Replacement Frenzy

If you are woken up early in the morning to the sound of scraping and hammering, chances are your neighbor is getting their roof replaced. The hail storms of June 2016 have produced a flurry of roof replacement companies engaging homeowners that last year’s hail storm damage could mean a new roof for the homeowner.

We recently replaced our roof because we noticed an influx of roofing companies throughout Ashburn. When we inquired with our neighbors what was going on, they explained the impact the hail damage had to our homes.  Before you go out and contact your insurance agent, you should first have a reputable roofing company inspect your roof for potential hail damage. We contacted Style Roofing who came out to our house and walked our roof to assess to see if it has sustained hail damage to reasonably justify an insurance claim.

One Style Roofing determined that there was enough damage to justify an insurance claim, they submitted a report to us with pricing to replace our roof, gutters and garage doors. We then contacted our insurance agent who came out and visually inspected the hail damage. They agreed with Style Roofing’s assessment. We then proceeded to file an insurance claim. Shortly thereafter, we received a check for 50% of the quote and the work started. It was a fairly painless process.

Be Careful of Storm Chasers

Be cautious as there are “storm chasers” who come from out of state that are less than reputable and may not be bonded and licensed to work in Virginia. Make sure the roofing company you are looking at has good reviews online. Look at review websites like www.angieslist.com to get insight into what other people have said. Also make sure they are bonded and licensed to work in VA.
