As the school year starts, parents are finding themselves between a rock and a hard place. As a parent of a budding preschooler, I found myself at these crossroads last year. Should I send my daughter to a regular preschool with potential for exposure or enroll for screen-based learning or homeschool ourselves or do nothing. None of these choices were optimal.
We wanted her to have the benefit of proper hands-on education in the company of other children for well-rounded development. That’s how the idea of a homeschool pod led by a dedicated teacher came into being.
I started a small learning pod with just 3 kids and a teacher. It worked and we are doing it again this year (our pod website: http://inqschool.com/).
As it turns out, I was not alone. The homeschooling and learning pods trend has exploded across the USA due to the pandemic.
It has also given an opportunity to innovate the preschool curriculum, something that hasn’t changed in a long time, to meet the educational needs of the new generation.
I hope that by disseminating this information, more awareness about new learning models can be created and parents will be inspired to develop their own or perhaps create their own learning pods.
